NVWA registrated

The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (nVWA) monitors the health of animals and plants, animal welfare and safety of food and consumer products, and maintains the natural law. Contaminants in animal feed can be a danger to the health of animals and people. Feed businesses must therefore monitor whether their raw materials are clean, and build their own production processes according to the principles of HACCP.

The nVWA inspects the work of companies and monitors the composition of raw materials and feed. For nVWA it is important to know which risks to food safety, product safety, health or welfare at companies is in dispute. This is a prerequisite to monitor correctly. Therefore companies need to turn to the nVWA for registrations, licenses, approvals, waivers or consents.

Right amount

Fish never die of starvation, but often of overfeeding. A by now winged statement, the consequences of which many have had to experience. For optimal growth and maintenance, a Nishikigoi needs 1 to 3 percent per day, very young Koi as much as 7 percent but e.g., 1 to 2 percent of the water. Jumbo Koi require only half a percent of their body weight in feed. Despite the use of the quickly digestible ideal small pellet, we recommend that you do not feed more than your fish can eat in 5 minutes. It is better to give the fish a little less food several times, than 1 time a large amount. After all, fish don’t have a stomach, so they can’t digest a lot of food at once. The undigested food gets into your pond water and only leads to water pollution. Following this advice has the advantage for you of better water quality and therefore healthier Nishigikoi.

Feed as alternately as possible. Each feed type, in addition to the daily nutrition required, has an extra quality that will improve and prolong the life of your Nishikigoi.

Research suggests that feeding small pellets helps improve digestion in both large and small fish. House of Kata uses this ideal small pellet. This has the advantage of less water pollution, better water quality and therefore healthier Nishikigoi. In addition, you can enjoy feeding longer and have more time to inspect your fish. The pellets have a long float making it easy for you to see how much is being eaten and by whom. If a particular fish is not eating or eating well, this may indicate a disease. Because the fish have to come up to eat, you can admire them well and check for diseases or injuries. In addition, you will not find undigested pellets or parts of them in the droppings as is often the case with large pellets.

Explanation of ingredients

Proteins
Proteins are basically amino acids. A total of 20, but 13 of them are vital. These amino acids provide for growth, repair of damaged tissue and production of eggs or seed. A shortage of amino acids and therefore proteins disrupts the growth of the Nishikigoi. If this is the case for a long time it can cause a fusion of the spine.

Carbohydrates
The carbohydrates in the feed are essential for the energy of the fish, but Nishikigoi do not convert them quickly. Too many carbohydrates can cause damage to the liver. It can also cause a huge storage of these substances in the form of glycogen that can cause cardiac arrest.

Fats
Fats are the basis for energy and as such provide the fatty acids trigliceride and phospholipinol. These are the key components for the growth of cell walls. Fats are less dangerous to fish than they are to humans, and for our Nishikigoi, their low melting point makes them easily digestible. A disadvantage is that fats c.q. fatty acids oxidize when exposed to oxygen and thus become harmful to the health of your Nishikigoi. Therefore, it is important to purchase the feed in not too large quantities.

Vitamins
These are very important for the normal metabolism and growth of the Nishikigoi, especially during the spawning season. Vitamins only need to be present in small amounts in the feed, but they certainly should not be missing. There are two types of vitamins: one that dissolves in water and one that dissolves in fat. The latter type is converted slowly by the fish and is stored in body fat. A lack of vitamins is not likely to occur.
House of Kata Koi foods contain all the essential vitamins in the right amounts that will keep your fish healthy all year round.

Minerals
Minerals have different functions. Among other things, they take care of building the skeleton, building nerves and maintaining a good metabolism. House of Kata Koi foods ensures that during the process of preparing the pellets, the minerals are added in the right proportions in the form of ash.

Color Enhancers
To preserve the colors, substances are added to the preparation process to ensure that the natural colors of the fish are maintained. An important component that is added is Carotene, this substance ensures that the red pigment cells of your Nishikigoi are strengthened. Another substance added is Spirulina, this is also added to strengthen the red pigment parts without affecting the white parts. Paprika: red paprika contains over 2 times as much vitamin C and over 3 times as much vitamin A as green paprika.

Chlorella
Chlorella is a high quality food source consisting of over 50% protein and the natural beta-carotene (pro-vitamin A) and vitamin B12. Furthermore, Chlorella contains 19 amino acids and fatty acids. Used for years for humans and animals. Frequent research has shown that Chlorella makes very positive contributions to the well-being of Nishikigoi.

Zeolite
This is a mineral rock that has an absorptive capacity . It can bind ammonium. It is chemical filtration and it purifies the water through absorption of chemicals.

Propolis
Propolis is a natural antibiotic: antiviral and antifungal, antifungal, natural aspirin, stimulates thymus gland, increasing immunity and resistance to infection. It suppresses the formation of prostaglandin, which plays a role in pain, inflammation and cardiovascular disease. Contains bioflavonoids: increases the effect of vitamin C which protects against infections, prevents bleeding, helps to reduce small burst veins and dilates the blood vessels, thus achieving better blood flow.

Propolis has a positive influence on the immune system in general and on the liver, the immunity system, the self-cleaning ability of the body, the counteracting and curing of abdominal dropsy (also called dropsy) and fin rot, the development of the bones and the skin quality. Propolis is also available in the form of an ointment
Excellent source of histamine: causes dilation of blood vessels and contracts flaccid muscles. It is released in large quantities after skin damage; excellent source of serotonin: it is thought to play a role in inflammation just like histamine and it also acts as a neurotransmitter: important for the sleep process. The propolis used by House of Kata is guaranteed free of waxes. And thus safe to use for your Nishikigoi without the chance of adhesion of the gill flaps.

Garlic
The Chinese the ancient Greeks and also the Romans already used garlic against all kinds of ailments such as infections, wounds and ulcers. Garlic is a rich source of Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3 and C. Adding garlic to the feed provides a purifying effect on the intestines. This has the benefit of increased vitality and resistance of your Nishikigoi.

Lactoferrin (lactic acid bacteria Lactobacillus)
Has probiotic properties for better resistance to disease and infection. This lactic acid bacteria largely survives passage through the gastrointestinal tract and has a beneficial effect on the intestinal flora.

Montmorillonite clay
Calcium montmorillonite clay has been named Terramin as an edible clay. In addition, it is also known as `living clay` because it consists mainly of minerals that increase the production of enzymes in all living organisms. Research by leading scientists from reputable universities also shows the positive contribution on livestock. The US Department of Fish and Wildlife has conducted research when applied to trout, these results are also positive.

Phosphorus
Should always be present in a Koi feed, lack of phosphorus can cause the spine to grow crooked.

Vitamin A
For proper growth and vision.

Vitamin B1
Obtains energy from carbohydrates.

Vitamin B2
Vitamin B2 or Riboflavin is the stress vitamin. It ensures that the Koi can better handle situations that may cause stress. Also supports the building of muscles and mucous membrane.

Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 or Pyridoxine, along with vitamins B11 and B12, ensures the absorption of iron by the body and this vitamin is involved in the formation of red blood cells. These three vitamins also ensure proper functioning of the nervous system and are involved in amino acid metabolism.

Vitamin B12
See vitamin B6.
Vitamin B12 or Cobalamin, along with vitamins B6 and B11, ensures the absorption of iron by the body and it is involved in the formation of red blood cells. Deficiency of these vitamins can lead to anemia. These three vitamins also ensure proper functioning of the nervous system and are involved in amino acid metabolism.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C has broad effects. Is known to everyone for its positive effects on health. In 1928, the pure crystal form was isolated for the first time. In 1937, Dr. Albert Szent-Gyorgyi received the Nobel Prize for this. The official name of vitamin C is acidum ascorbicum, which means anti-curvy. For skeleton building, Improves the resistance of your Nishikigoi

Vitamin D
Important for the growth of the skeleton.

Vitamin E
Is necessary for the formation of red blood cells and the building, repair and maintenance of muscle and other tissues.

Vitamin K
Promotes the clotting of blood after an injury.

Choline
Is nodig voor het verteren van vet.

IE & IU values
Internationally, a term for unity has been agreed upon that is one thousand times smaller than one millionth.

IE: international Unit (thousandths of a milligram per kilogram)
IE: international Unit (thousandths of a milligram per kilogram)
IU/kg: One thousandth of a ppm. (one billionth of a kilogram)
ppm: part per million (one-thousandth of a milligram per kilogram)
Probiotics
Probiotics are live, microbial food ingredients that have a positive effect on the health of the Nishikigoi.

Immunostimulants
The immunostimulants incorporated into our feeds contribute to the improvement of the Nishikigoi’s immune system.

Relatively clean weapon in the fight against infections
Research has shown that beta-glucans are able to selectively activate macrophages. With this, unlike antibiotics, we have a relatively clean weapon in hand in the fight against infections. Beta-glucans are most effective in fish in the gastrointestinal tract, which is convenient for us because that is where most pathogens gain access to the body.

Direct action in gastrointestinal tract
In addition to Beta-glucans, our feeds also contain Nucleotides (the building blocks of DNA, ed.), which have a direct strengthening effect on the cells (enterocytes) of the intestinal wall. In the intestinal tract, these enterocytes are the main barrier between the outside world and the internal environment. Inherent to their function, however, they are highly exposed to wear and tear and therefore frequent division of the enterocytes is necessary. They must create large amounts of DNA to do so, using nucleotides present in the feed, among other things. Adding nucleotides to the feed therefore has a health-promoting effect.

Skin improvement and wound healing
In addition, what we very much believe in is the combination of these immunostimulants with vitamin C. This vitamin acts as a fuel on the immune cells. So where beta-glucans stimulate macrophages, vitamin C keeps them in good condition. In addition to the immune system, it can also improve the condition of the skin. For example, wound healing is greatly stimulated. The colors and patterns are largely genetic. But in order for these to develop into the right colorations, a fish must be able to take in the right and sufficient color pigments. For this purpose, we use natural yellow and red pigments. Especially astaxanthin (a red pigment that is very efficient for fish) has an important share in this.

Macronutrients
Most foods are complex products and consist of a mixture of different components. Thus, macronutrients are a source of energy and building materials, necessary for the growth and maintenance of the Nishikigoi’s body. The macronutrients of fish food for growth, energy and maintenance needs consist of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Vegetable proteins from soy, corn and wheat are high quality and of course Whitefish meal and Krill for balance and good palatability. Fat: A combination of fish oil for the omega-3 fatty acids and vegetable oils from soy and rapeseed. Carbohydrates: The starches of wheat and corn are solubilized (gelatinized) by the extrusion process, making them highly digestible.

Micronutrients are these nutrients that the body only needs in small amounts such as vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Micronutrients are necessary for the proper functioning of body processes. Other substances without nutritional value (dietary fiber, antioxidants, ) are also necessary to keep the Nishikigoi in optimal condition. To stay healthy, the Nishikigoi needs all these different nutrients.
